Then, through Prompt’s platform, you’ll submit essay drafts and schedule video calls as many times as you need until your essay is complete. This service only applies to one SOP (or Academic Personal Statement) for one school. Most students complete their essays in 2-3 weeks. Coaching for additional schools and essays (e.g. diversity/research statements) can be purchased later at a reduced rate.

What Last Year's Students Say

Aaleen
AaleenOkinawa Institute of Science and Technology
WriteIvy's advice changed everything. Their four-section structure and the idea of presenting myself as the hero of my own academic journey helped me transform my SOP from a scattered draft into something focused and compelling. It still took many more iterations, especially with the challenge of a 2,500-character limit including spaces, but it worked. I was accepted into my top-choice program as a research intern at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology.

Thanks to Write Ivy's clear and practical guidance, I was able to craft an SOP that was focused, authentic, and aligned with the mission of the programs I applied to. I'm thrilled to share that I've been admitted to three Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's programs, and I credit a huge part of this success to what I learned from Write Ivy. I can't thank Jordan and the team enough!
Emily
EmilyUniversity of Pennsylvania
I paid for a personal review because I had a couple of specific doubts about my paper, but the feedback was the perfect balance of supportive, instructive, and critical - by the time I submitted my SOP, I knew it was the best possible product. The feedback helped solidify my perspective and one specific suggestion my editor made was a huge light bulb for me. I'm excited to share that I can safely say our time paid off - I received an acceptance letter for my first choice master's program at the University of Pennsylvania!
Shannon
ShannonTop Psychology Programs
I remember how overwhelming the application process felt when I started it last year, but with your guidance, I was able to write a strong SOP that led me to receive offers from the top two programs in my field, Psychology. I'm incredibly grateful for your feedback and the opportunity to take your SOP course. Thank you for all that you do to support students like me in achieving their dreams!

My very first job was working in an after-school tutoring center, and I've continued teaching and helping students achieve their goals ever since! I attended the University of Southern California on a full academic scholarship where I graduated summa cum laude in literature and creative writing, and over the years I have worked in tutoring centers, schools and privately with students of all ages. I love teaching in all its forms, and when I'm not engaging with students academically, I also spend my time training in and teaching different movement modalities!

My academic specialties include entomology, plant science, and biology. I am an avid naturalist and scientist, and especially love working with pre-med and STEM students! I earned my B.S. degree from Cornell University and my M.S. from LSU, where I specialized in general entomology, invasive species research, and insect rearing. Beyond my studies, I’ve had the pleasure of co-teaching undergraduate science classes, hosting review sessions, editing scientific papers and journal articles, and publishing original research. Frequently Asked Questions

Do you consider yourself a strong writer? If so, a few quick passes through GradPilot would be a great way to highlight any content issues you might have overlooked. It’s a small price to pay for peace of mind and confidence!

If you’re not a strong writer, or if you’re a non-native English speaker who feels nervous about all this, the editors at Prompt will be super helpful. Not only will they highlight content problems, but they’ll show you exactly how to tweak your sentences—your actual words—so you sound sharp, intelligent, and as close to perfect as possible. It’s nice to have an actual human friend who really wants to see you succeed, yeah?

Coaching is for applicants who haven’t written anything yet and don’t want to figure out how to do this on their own. Honestly, we believe our self-guided courses—The Master’s SOP Formula and The PhD SOP Formula—are THE BEST way for you to produce an A++ SOP. But, that takes work, time, self-discipline, and a willingness to think through big problems on your own. If you’re the kind of person who’d rather have an expert talk you through the whole process, from brainstorm to submission, and if the money isn’t an issue, then coaching could be a great option for you. But don’t get us wrong: we still think The SOP Formula is the best path for everyone who’s willing to do the work. Simply put, it generates the best results.

AI reviews from GradPilot are lightning fast and they’ll highlight problems you can fix on your own (with a few pointed suggestions). Human reviews from Prompt take 2-4 Business Days, but they’re intense. They often result in 1-3 pages of notes that try to wholly understand you and your goals (something AI is incapable of). When necessary, they’ll get surgical with your sentences, and give you detailed, super-clear examples of how you can be sharper, more concise, and more intelligent with your language and ideas. As we said above, it’s awesome to have an actual human friend who really wants to see you succeed.

AI reviews from GradPilot are basically instantaneous. Human reviews from Prompt take 2-4 Business Days.

Absolutely. A lot of our past students started with GradPilot, then moved on to Human Reviews and even coaching to ensure their SOPs were as effective as possible. Often this happens when students don’t know how to edit their 1,000-word SOP down to a tidy 500 words, or when they’re just super-busy with work and want to take a breath, step back, and hand their essay off to an expert.

That’s fantastic! You’ll join a great many other students who’ve written a brilliant foundation essay in our course, then used reviews for a final coat of polish (and a final dose of confidence in themselves). That’s what it’s all about in the end: reaching a point where you’re totally confident in what you’ve written—where you know you’ve given yourself the best chance of admission. (Also, if you haven’t checked the course platform lately, take a look and you’ll find discounts on reviews!)

Unfortunately not. After many years of reviewing thousands and thousands of essays, he’s stepping back to let these eager young editors at Prompt work their magic. He personally vetted them all and knows they’ll give you the exact kind of deep, thoughtful expertise you’re looking for. You want an expert to help you. We went out and found the best of the best, and now we’re introducing them to you.

When we saw how many students were receiving wonderful feedback from GradPilot, we tested it ourselves, and then reached out to say: ‘Hey, this is great! We’re fans!’ Now, we’re proud to be their first (and currently only) affiliate, which means we get a small commission if you purchase a GradPilot review through our link. We hope you’ll give it a shot, because GradPilot solves a huge problem that applicants have faced for years: the ability to get good, quick feedback at the lowest possible price. Honestly? Our opinion of AI in general (GPT, Claude, etc.) is not very high—more promises than results. But GradPilot is different. We’re not sure how they did it, but it works, and we think every applicant needs to know that they have this great option available.

Years ago, Jordan began working as an independent counselor on Prompt’s online platform for undergrad applicants. But as WriteIvy grew in popularity, and as we watched Prompt grow WAY larger, we began to collaborate on new SOP coaching services specifically for grad-school applicants. Now, Prompt maintains a dedicated team of ‘WriteIvy’ grad-school specialists, all of whom have received training from Jordan, our founder, and who are only accessible through the links on this page. If you want, you can go to their website and find general review services, but it won’t necessarily be with Jainita, Trinity, Lori, or any of the other awesome coaches we’ve trained.

As with everything on WriteIvy, we have an ‘all sales are final’ policy. We want to be 100% up front about that, even in cases like this where we’re referring you to other services we trust. Please know, however, that we wouldn’t recommend anything, or provide any service, if we didn’t think you were going to be absolutely thrilled with the results. We want you to get admitted! That’s why we exist, and we’re certain you’ll be glad you made the decision to get your essays reviewed.

Is your SOP as good as you want it to be? Let’s find out.

Whether you want an AI or Human Review, you’ve now got access to the wisdom of people who’ve seen thousands of essays that got admitted. No matter what field you’re studying. No matter which school. This is your support group in academia and they’re ready to help you submit the absolutely best applications possible.

Personal Mentors Who Want You to Win

Statements of Purpose are bewildering, aren’t they? No one ever taught you to write like this. How can you know that you’re doing it right? That you’re writing everything grad schools WANT to see? How can you be sure that, in only two pages, you’ve shown how very hard you’ve worked and how much you’ll succeed if they admit you?

Take a deep breath. In the last decade, we’ve helped hundreds of students like you write SOPs that earned admission to the world’s best graduate schools. Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, and more. PhDs and Master’s in Engineering, Biology, Art, you name it. Now, with patient guidance, we’ll help you write just as brilliantly as those students did. Together, we’ll guarantee you make no mistakes, and that your applications are the absolute strongest you can submit.

Together, we’ll show them that you deserve to be admitted.

No More SOP Fears

Let’s Talk About Who This is Really For…

You’re a student with no shortage of ambition who’s tired of feeling stressed about applications and is ready to write an SOP that reveals your true intellectual potential, justifies all the work you’ve put in, and launches your career as a high-achieving scholar.

Whether you’re…

You’re in the right place and we're going to give you the tools, inspiration, and support you need to draft and submit essays that convince grad schools you’re their dream student.

Intensely Detailed 1-on-1 Feedback

Through back-and-forth questioning, we’ll help you clarify your thoughts and make sure you’re conveying your unique strengths in the most impactful way. Then, through surgical line-editing, we’ll suggest changes that enhance your style and make any reader think you’re a natural writer who’s fiercely intelligent and guaranteed to succeed in grad school.

By the end of this process, you will have…

“I was very fortunate to receive both the NDSEG and NSF GRFP fellowships so it seems that your SOP strategies are also effective for those applications!  Thank you again so much for your help. This application cycle was successful beyond my wildest expectations!”

– Rick, Electrical Engineering

“I must admit, the final product is next-level – well beyond what I thought I was capable of producing. This is my writing but I never thought my SOP could be this good. It was an extension of my identity, and quite a self-actualizing experience.”

– Carly, Biomaterials Engineering

I have never felt so proud, confident, and excited in my entire life. Your insight and expertise gave me a sense of ease and confidence which allowed me to submit applications to schools I never expected to accept me!”

– Amanda, Nursing

“Overall, I got accepted to 6 schools with 2 waitlists and ZERO rejections! Given my GPA of 3.29/4.0, and lack of academic publications or strong credentials, I think it’s pretty safe to say that my essays were OBJECTIVELY stellar.”

– Lee, Electrical Engineering

How It Works

Step 1

After uploading your SOP to our online essay-editing platform, our team of essay experts will study your life and academic goals with so much focus, you’ll be amazed. Then, we’ll talk strategy in a coaching call.

Step 2

In the first round of feedback, we’ll directly explain how to clarify your argument and structure your writing for the greatest possible effect, even giving you a new outline if needed.

Step 3

We’ll continue this process in later drafts, while suggesting line-edits that make your language more sophisticated and intelligent than you ever thought possible. It’ll still be your words, life, and insights, just polished to perfection.

Step 4

Finally, we’ll repeat this process until you’ve got a shining final draft that makes you proud, boldly articulates your life’s purpose, and convinces grad schools that no matter what obstacles you’ve faced in the past, you’re destined to be a huge success in grad school…and beyond.

But don't "impulse purchase"

All Sales are Final

Our editors work incredibly hard to help you make sure you’re writing exactly what faculty want to see.

But because of the extensive time (weeks!), effort, preparation, and care that goes into this 1-on-1 collaboration, and because we’re limited in the number of students we can work with each cycle, we can’t offer refunds nor guarantees.

We consider this a good thing. It means that once you’ve signed up, we’re carving time out of our schedule for the next few weeks, or even months, and saying “This belongs to you and only you!”

It means we’re 100% committed to your success, and helping you show admissions committees that you deserve to be admitted.

One-on-One Editing services are unavailable until further notice.

Important: A minimum lead time of two weeks is required for one-on-one editing services, meaning your deadline must be at least two weeks away from the date you submit your inquiry. Thank you for your understanding.
